Spin Classes – what’s the hype?

Fitness fads may come and go –but one craze that has stuck around for a while is the renowned spin class. Maybe you’re a spin fanatic… or maybe you’ve yet to give these classes a “spin”. Whatever the case may be, there’s a reason these sessions are all the rage–from LA, to Europe, to right here in South Australia at Vitality Health Club.

These classes have been so popular, in fact, that we recently invested in a set of brand new, top quality spin bikes so you can get the absolute most out of these sessions!

The benefits of these pre-choreographed classes are endless. Read ahead to get the nitty-gritty!

1. HEART PUMPING, BLOOD FLOWING.

 

There’s no time to waste; a spin class will get your heart rate pumping within the first couple of minutes.

With an awesome soundtrack and the high energy of your other classmates to bounce off, you’ll feel amped up and ready to tackle the 60 minutes ahead. Cardio has never been easier!

2. BE NICE TO YOUR KNEES.

 

If you struggle with high-impact movements like running and jumping, spin class could be a winner.

Bicycles are much more gentle on the joints, making these classes suitable for all fitness levels (but be prepared to sweat!)

 3. BE YOUR OWN BOSS.

 

If you find group fitness intimidating, spin classes could be a great way to ease you into this type of exercise. Why? Well, as much as these are “group” classes, your bike is your own and you have the freedom to go at your own pace, whatever that may be.

Of course, your Instructor will make suggestions and urge you to push yourself but if you need to slow things down, you can. All other cyclists will be too invested in their own workout to worry about those around them, so you can do your own thing and push yourself to the limits you know you can handle.

4. A WORKOUT FROM HEAD TO TOE.

 

Whilst some fitness classes or PT sessions are intended to target one area of the body (leg day, anyone?), spin classes are designed to give you an all-over workout.

Whilst it may seem as though spin classes are solely working your glutes and hammys, the truth is that an hour-long session on one of our bikes will work several muscles including your arms and abs.

The terrain includes flats, hills, and breakaways, with variety between each new release, so every class is different and you’ll never, ever get bored.
